Broady's Naval Sales Manager, Gary Hastings, presented the Sea Cadets from TS Astute in Wallasey, Merseyside with a Deck Plate bearing the name of the unit.
BAE Systems Submarine Solutions made the request to Broady and we were delighted to cast and finish the ceremonial plate installed at the end of October.
The 78 strong sea cadet unit has gone from unattached to adoption by the crew of the Royal Navy's newest submarine, Astute, and becoming the only sea cadet unit in the country to boast a Royal sponsor within an eighteen month period.
HRH The Duchess of Cornwall, personally requested to become the unit's sponsor and paid a visit to them in July 2010. The Sea Cadets can now proudly salute the deck plate bearing the name of the unit each time they pass over the training unit 'bridge'.
